Where gothic letters come from
Gothic, or blackletter, is the writing style of medieval manuscripts and early printed books. It remained common in German printing for centuries.
Unicode includes a full gothic alphabet, called fraktur, in regular and bold. A few capitals, such as ℭ and ℌ, come from an older block, and Fontcopia uses them where needed.
