Three kinds of small text
Small capitals look like capital letters at lowercase height and stay very readable. Tiny letters sit high, like footnotes. Subscript sits low, like in chemical formulas.
Unicode does not have a subscript version of every letter. Letters without one stay normal, so subscript works best for short words.
Questions and answers
Why are some tiny letters missing?
Unicode only includes some letters in tiny or subscript form. Where one is missing, Fontcopia uses the closest available character or the normal letter.
Which small style is best for a name?
Small capitals: they keep the same width as normal letters and read well everywhere.
Can I write numbers small?
Yes. Tiny and subscript both include numbers from 0 to 9.
